Bio

Xavier has been on staff with Grace South Bay since the summer of 2018 as our GraceTeens Director. As a native of San Jose he is very passionate about the gospel going out in the city he loves. Born of Hispanic decent, the middle-child of a family of five that live local, he sees himself staying in the South Bay for years to come.

Not growing up in a Christian home, he spent much of his life trying to find good news in worldly things that took him further from God. God dramatically intervened in Xavier’s life by using a series of trials; he became a Christian January of 2010 and has never looked back. He got connected at Venture Church in Los Gatos, CA, and it is there that he found a community and was discipled by some godly men who helped him in his journey. In that context he developed a strong sense of calling him to pastoral ministry. Having hardly any education he enrolled at junior college to get the wheels rolling. Within a year he applied at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago where he was trained in ministry. It was at Moody that he developed a passion for reformed theology and the local church. His belief about youth in the South Bay is that they’re in the greatest place in the world to shed the light of Jesus to the secular world around them.

Xavier loves fishing around the Bay Area in his boat, watching the Dodgers, drinking good wine, and having friends over for BBQ. Three quotes that have helped form him are: “Meet the people where they’re at in life,” “The Christian life is more caught than taught,” and “The same gospel that saved you is the same one that will sustain you.” He’s working on his M.A. in Theology at Reformed Theological Seminary (RTS) and aspires to be ordained in Gods timing with the PCA.
